Filecoin Goes Live

The Lede

Well, it’s one hell of a 2017 throwback today. After literally years of anticipation, Filecoin has gone live to mainnet.

Filecoin is of course the native token of the InterPlanetary File System, a peer-to-peer decentralized storage protocol that has been in use for years.

In many ways, the launch of Filecoin represents one of the best chances for a 2017-ICO-era token to prove its mettle. Can this token grow and help bootstrap and ecosystem or will it be - as critics worry - simply a source of friction.

Filecoin (FIL) Gains Listing On 3 Major Crypto Exchanges; 542 Blocks Until Mainnet Launch

Whatever the case, bringing such a massive project to fruition deserves significant kudos so we’re hoping for the best for everyone involved!
